Proof it’s possible for Brooklyn Nets to find talent at pick 27 of the NBA Draft
3. Elden Campbell
Drafted: June 27, 1990 by the Los Angeles Lakers
Elden Campbell’s ability to score and defend in the low post enabled him to last 15 years in the NBA as center/power forward. For a player to attain that kind of NBA longevity, he must be doing something right. Then again, Jerry West was responsible for drafting Campbell and no one on this planet has a better eye for talent than the NBA logo.
Campbell had stints with six different NBA teams, but he is best known for nine seasons he spent with the Lakers. His most successful season came during the 1995-96 campaign that saw him average 13.9 points-per-game, seven rebounds-per-game, and two blocks-per-game.
Campbell earned a Championship Ring as a member of the 2003-04 Detroit Pistons. The Pistons defeated the Nets in seven games in the second round of the NBA playoffs that season.
Campbell actually had a cup of coffee with the Nets, appearing in 10 games in 2005. By then he had seen better days, but the Nets would gladly select the prime-version of Campbell when the 27th selection is up come NBA Draft Day Thursday.
