Drafted: June 27, 2013 by the Denver Nuggets

Utah Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey should have been led out of the Barclays Arena in handcuffs. Because the 2013 draft day trade of Erick Green and cash to the Nuggets for Gobert was grand larceny.

This year saw Gobert, in just his fourth NBA season, earn Second-Team All-NBA honors. A defensive wizard, Gobert led the NBA in Blocked Shots with 214 this past season. It marked the third time Gobert finished in the top 10 in the league in block shots.

The France native’s continue development on the offensive side of the ball is allowing Gobert to lay claim as one of the league’s best centers. He averaged a career high 14 points-per-game last season.

Imagine a defensive minded, all-NBA caliber player paired next to Brook Lopez on the Nets frontline next season. Gobert proves that kind of dreaming is realistic with the 27th pick.
