Vincent Poirier is a more traditional center. He does not expand his game to the three-point line, but he battles relentlessly down low.

He is a great screener, and a very willing roller. Most ‘bigs’ nowadays prefer to ‘pop’ after the screen, and create a play themselves. Poirier embraces rolling to the hoop, and finishing above the rim, with or without contact. He has nice length which allows him to wreak havoc on the offensive glass, and the Nets could use help in that department.

In short, Poirier is a hustle player right now. This does not mean he doesn’t have the chance to develop into something more, but as of now, his game is rather one-dimensional.

But, his game is still extremely effective. While he may not be able to knock down the open three, he is very difficult to play against. Constant energy, always attacking the glass and a ferocious finisher in close quarters.

He’s shown a willingness to shoot mid-range jump shots, which is very encouraging for the Nets. If his game continues to improve, and he has a couple nice outings in Vegas, keep an eye on this prospect. He could end up spending time with Long Island if he makes a positive lasting impression.

Probability of Vincent Poirier making the opening day roster: 5%
