Of course, Marks might say “the hell with it,” and bring Goodwin back. It won’t cost much and Goodwin earned a spot on the team with his play last season.

Goodwin’s numbers extrapolated over 36 minutes were noteworthy: 18 points, five rebounds, four assists. If Goodwin can earn a larger role in Kenny Atkinson’s rotation, who knows how effective he’d be.

Goodwin has shown a willingness to be apart of the Nets’ culture. He was spotted at the Barclays Center with a few Nets teammates. He has said that he wants to grow with the Nets. John Callipari has even said that Brooklyn is his home.

The Nets had Goodwin play for them for their summer league team. They have invested quite a bit into him and played him a good amount during the stretch run of last season. The Nets won 10 of their last 23 games after winning that much in their first 69 games.

Goodwin went from the 10-day contract heap to earning a spot in the Nets culture. If the team can’t find regular minutes for him, they should at leas consider signing him to a two-way deal. At just 23, Goodwin has plenty of time to improve. It’d be nice to see that happen with the Brooklyn Nets.
