Brooklyn Nets 2017 Backcourt Preview

Jeremy Lin, PG
2016-17 Stats: 14.5 PPG, 5.1 APG, 43.8 FG%, 37.2 3FG%, 36 GP, 33 GS
While Lin had good numbers last season, he was injury riddled and played in just 36 games for Brooklyn. It will be interesting to see if he can bounce back. After all, last season was the first season in Lin’s career where he was constantly sidelined. That type of season can really affect a player’s mentality.
It is entirely possible that Line does not comeback the same as before. While his injuries were fairly minor, all things considered, that does not mean they will not change his game. We could see Lin drive less and focus more on shooting from the arc, or he may embrace the floor general role. The Nets need someone to direct the offense and Lin is the natural option.
But, Lin could also try to play the same and suffer for it a la Derrick Rose. This could put the Nets’ playoff hopes in serious jeopardy. Lin was mainly a slasher when he was healthy. With Russell taking on the same role, the two could clog the paint.
However, expect Lin to rise to the occasion and outperform himself. He might be the key to the Nets’ journey to the postseason when it is all said and done.
