2016-17 Stats: 10.7 PPG, 2.9 TRB, 46.8 FG%, 44.4 3FG%, 79 GP, 7 GS
Crabbe’s acquisition caps off the Nets’ busy summer. After attempting to sign him as a restricted free agent last offseason, general manager Sean Marks traded Andrew Nicholson for him. The move gave the Nets a three-point threat, something much needed for the fifth-worst shooting team in the league.
While he will likely play 30+ minutes a game, Crabbe will likely come off of the bench. Although it would not be surprising to see him start some games. Brooklyn will have plenty of options when it comes to Crabbe’s role.
That being said, we do not know what Crabbe’s role will be exactly. While he could be the lead scorer off the bench, he could also be the sixth man or even the starting shooting guard. He is a plug-and-play type of player. Head coach Kenny Atkinson will have plenty of options.
Crabbe’s numbers will likely increase across the board with a few exceptions. For example, e will get a lot more touches, especially around the arc. While that will give him more chances to score, it will also potentially hurt his shooting percentages. That being said, Crabbe is definitely a most needed piece in the Nets’ backcourt.
