Midseason trade with Houston

The Rockets are looking to be a team that can make the Golden State Warriors sweat this season. But in order to do so, some moves still need to be made. There have been rumors that the Rockets want to acquire Carmelo Anthony, but doing so means they need a three-plus team trade.

Teams like the Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers as well as the Nets can get involved and make the deal work. In the process, the Nets can possibly grab a big man in the process.

Houston has two big men it cannot trade until Dec. 14. The longer the trade talks between New York and Houston prolong, the better for Brooklyn. While the trade would come most likely before the start of the season, everyday the season inches closer and the trade becomes less likely.

However, the Nets may not need to get involved in an Anthony trade to grab one of Houston’s big men. Once Dec. 14 hits, Brooklyn may look to acquire one of Houston’s many big men in a trade. Whether it come before the start of 2018 or before this season’s trade deadline, a trade with Houston would be smart for Brooklyn.

Clint Capela had an increased role last season in Houston, so it seems he won’t be traded away anytime soon. But the Nets could always try to trade for Nene or Tarik Black.

Black would be easier to pry away from Houston as Nene still plays a key role in the Rockets offensive and defensive schemes. With the Rockets making moves to improve as the season progresses, Black may be sent to Brooklyn to gain some flexibility in trade talks.

After all, we saw the Nets grab K.J. McDaniels for essentially nothing from Houston last season. Could we see Brooklyn grab Black in a similar move this season?
