December 7th, 9th – The Mexico City Nets!
During the 2017-18 NBA Season, two of the Nets 42 home games won’t actually be taking place at Barclays Center. That’s right, the Nets’ temporary home will be Mexico City Arena as they host the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat on December 7th and 9th, respectively.
These games will be interesting as the new look Nets. They will see how they matchup against a potential Western Conference contender in the Thunder and a perennial playoff team in the Miami Heat. It’s also interesting to mention we will see how D’Angelo Russell can play against the reigning MVP and one of the NBA’s best guards in Russell Westbrook.
The Nets may also find themselves in another tough game against the Miami Heat two nights later. The Heat were as dominant as almost any other team in the second half of the season and will look to build off that momentum.
Also, by resting their starters in the final game of the 2016-17 season, the Nets would cause the Miami Heat to miss out on the playoffs as they faced the Chicago Bulls that night. The reason this is, is because Chicago was a game ahead, but did not hold the tie breaker advantage. So had the Nets won Miami would have been the Eastern Conferences eighth seeded team. Don’t think that the Heat have forgotten that.
Both games will be interesting tests for the Nets and their players and surely will be fun to watch.
