2. Brook Lopez’s Game-Winning Buzzer Beater vs the Pistons
If you are now, or have been a fan of the Nets over the last 10 years, then you probably have a soft spot for Brook Lopez. Although he will be playing for the Los Angeles Lakers this season, he will always be a Net.
Throughout his time with the Nets, Lopez has made countless big shots and been the catalyst to wins. Known as one of the best and most unorthodox scorer at the center position, he should have made a few buzzer beaters in his career, right?
As crazy as this may be, the answer is no. Before March 21, 2017, Brook Lopez never had a game-winning buzzer beater. But that all changed in a game that was a grind until the end, he finally got the elusive honor.

Leading the way with 29 points, Lopez was dominant throughout the game, competing with Detroit Pistons’ big man Andre Drummond. With the game tied at 96-96 and 2.4 second left in regulation, the ball was put in Lopez’s hands to win it all.
He received the inbound at the high elbow on the left side of the lane and dribbled down to the baseline. He took a fade away shot off one foot as he was falling out of bounds. The ball arced high in the air before going through the basket with no time left on the clock.
The Nets earned a hard-fought victory late in a season that had been lost for a long time. Their best player, Lopez, never stopped playing hard for one minute and it showed in how hard the team played to get this win.
