3. Sean Kilpatrick’s 20-Point 4th Quarter in Win vs the Clippers

There are some guys in sports that you just want to root for. Kilpatrick is one of those guys. Coming out of college undrafted in 2014, Kilpatrick spent majority of the start of his career in the D-League where he excelled as a sharp shooter.

His hard work paid off, as he was noticed by the Brooklyn Nets and called up from the D-League in 2016. He had an immediate impact off the bench and was a lone bright spot in what was a depressing season.

He continued to work hard and it paid off yet again. Marks signed him to a long-term deal during the 2016-2017 offseason, making him Marks first signing. With the contract came high expectations, and Kilpatrick delivered.

His scoring prowess was on display during an early season game against a much better Los Angeles Clippers team. The Nets were down 16 points to start the fourth quarter, Kilpatrick started scoring at will and began to have the biggest quarter of his career.

Kilpatrick scored 20 points alone in the fourth quarter and helped the Nets finish regulation with a tie. The Nets ended up winning the game 127-122 in double overtime, anchored by the career high 38 points from Kilpatrick himself.

Games like this are why Nets’ fans are so attached to Kilpatrick and exactly why Marks signed him to a long-term deal. He may never be a starting caliber player, but he is a viable sixth man. Kilpatrick is a scoring spark plug off the bench that the Nets will need during the rebuild.
