The NBA ushered in the Nike era of its uniforms with new jerseys, advertisement patches and new gear. But now, Nike has unveiled its latest addition to its jersey collection: Statement jerseys. The Brooklyn Nets’ new jerseys feature an all-black look.

The Brooklyn Nets, along with every other NBA team, revealed the Statement jerseys on Saturday. Nike also introduced new warm-up jackets, featuring a hood. New addition D’Angelo Russell modeled the jersey for the Nets.

The jerseys are all black, with BKLYN embossed on the chest. They look clean, something that has been a trend among the new Nets jerseys.

Isaiah Whitehead, Allen Crabbe, Trevor Booker and Jeremy Lin have all modeled the jerseys as well.

Again, it is a clean look. Brooklyn’s all black look is an easy template for Nike to build on. The addition of the borough’s abbreviation is a nice touch. It is a good addition that is not too over the top. The Infor patch also looks clean, although Nike did not adjust it.

Still, it is a little disappointing to not see any color or throwbacks to the Nets of days yonder. If the Nets really want to mix things up, they could add the baby blue of the 80’s or the Americana look that they wore until the move to Brooklyn.

With the team free of any home and away distinctions for its uniform, Brooklyn is free to wear any of the several jerseys that they have unveiled so far. In addition to the black Statement jerseys, the Nets also have Icon and Association jerseys.
