Drafting Jarrett Allen
Jarrett Allen was the perfect addition for the team’s rebuild. With limited assets, Marks was able to turn the expiring deal of Bojan Bogdanovic and little-used Chris McCullough into a mid-first round draft pick.
That became Allen.
Allen is a rim-runner who blocks shots and finishes lobs. His jump shot is a work in progress but that should improve under Atkinson. Just look at what happened to Acy and Lopez last year.
It seems as though Allen may start the season with the Long Island Nets. If that is the case, the Nets plan on bringing Allen along slowly.
That in and of itself is a good sign. The Nets have big men in Mozgov, Booker, Acy and Hollis-Jefferson that they need to find minutes for. If things go sour and the Nets begin selling off their pieces, Allen could emerge midseason.
Until then, Allen could dominate in the G-League. With the Long Island Nets moving to the new Nassau Coliseum, Allen could be their main attraction.
Overall, drafting Allen was a great move.
