There was quite a controversy in Nets news this past week. Kenyon Martin decided to take a shot at Jeremy Lin’s newest hairstyle. Lin’s response was classy but snarky. Either way, the feud that never was is now over.

Good for Jeremy Lin. Kenyon Martin was completely out of line when he took aim at Lin for his hairstyle. To have handled the situation as well as he did without it escalating any further is a testament to his character.

This isn’t to say Lin rolled over either.

After Martin’s comments, Lin had a clever retort. He thanked Martin for bringing more attention to his hairstyle and then had a great comment in his response.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Lin said: “At the end of the day I appreciate that I have dreads and you have Chinese tattoos.”

In the words of the great Mike Breen: BANG!

Lin hit the nail on the head with his response. No need to stoop to Martin’s level. When they go low, we go high.

Well, it seems as though Lin killed Martin with kindness. Martin reached out to Lin, according to Anthony Puccio of NetsDaily.

As Lin said, it was a “great conversation.”

So Martin apologized, as he should have. Lin accepted his apology, as he should have. The reason why he should have? Because he is above Martin’s comments in the first place.

Lin is a starter on a Nets team that is 3-0 in the preseason and has thoroughly impressed in each outing. The team actually looks cohesive and the talent upgrade is noticeable over last year’s team.

Lin doesn’t need to be dragged down by Martin’s asinine comments. And he wasn’t.

The Brooklyn Nets won’t be either.
