With the offseason coming up in six months, the Brooklyn Nets could have the chance to sign Isaiah Thomas.

The dominance of the Golden State Warriors and the current state of the NBA give us teams that are looking to make moves. One of those teams appears to be the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers currently hold the Nets’ 2018 draft pick and are apparently looking to make a blockbuster trade. Also, no one exactly knows about whether LeBron James will resign with the team this offseason or not. That leaves some of the other players left to ponder their futures in Cleveland as well. One of those players is reportedly All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas.

More from Nothin' But Nets

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has often brought up the Nets as a possible destination for Thomas this offseason. While it would be surprising if the Nets signed Thomas, Windhorst feels the Nets are a viable destination and good fit for the two-time All-Star.

"“So even if Thomas were 100 percent healthy, he’d be facing a challenging marketplace this summer. After two years of historic jumps, the salary cap will be close to flat this summer. Most of the teams that currently have the type of cap space to offer a $20 million-plus deal Thomas was hoping for aren’t expected to be in the market for point guards.”"

When bringing up potential destinations, this is what Windhorst has to say

"“There are some options: Brooklyn, Phoenix and Indiana are possibilities, for example, though the Suns already traded Thomas once. It’s not inviting, even if Thomas had no injury concerns, which he does with possible degenerative hip issues.”"

Looking at this, it would be intriguing to bring an All-Star talent to Brooklyn. However, there are many pros and cons to this signing. With much uncertainty about the direction of the Nets team next year, should the team really bring in Thomas? It’s hard to say but can you really pass on signing a player of Thomas’ stature?

It’s a strange yet intriguing story for Nets fans to dive into. So let’s look at some of the Pros and Cons of an Isaiah Thomas signing for the Nets.
