Brooklyn Nets: Pros and Cons of Isaiah Thomas signing
Pros: Getting a pure scorer
As mentioned earlier, it’s hard to turn down bringing a player like Thomas on board. He has shown he is a hard worker and leaves all he has on the court every game. Even when tragedy struck his family, Thomas still showed up and delivered for his team in the playoffs. This is a perfect example of a player that fits the Nets culture.
Not only that but the Nets would be getting a pure scorer. With another target for D’Angelo Russell to find out on the wing, Thomas might be a nice off-ball shooter. So far in limited minutes he has played off the ball in Cleveland at times and been effective. This could be one of the reasons the Nets look to snag Thomas for cheap.
Also, we’ve seen once healthy just how effective Thomas can be. The Nets have taken chances on previously-injured players and it’s worked out. The latest example is DeMarre Carroll. We’ve see just what Carroll has done for the team now that he’s healthy. Toronto gave Brooklyn two draft picks to take on Carroll and his salary. Now, teams are actually looking to make a trade for Carroll. Can the Nets do the same with Thomas? Fans haven’t gotten the chance to see it yet, but they may be able to use their family like atmosphere and culture to lure Thomas to the team.
