The Brooklyn Nets have the potential to be a part of a crazy trade just before the deadline. They have cap space and assets. But they do not to do anything.

The Brooklyn Nets are in a tough position. On one hand, they have young players they can develop without worrying about the playoffs. On the other, they are just a piece or two away from becoming a playoff. A trade could be very beneficial to the team.

However, the Brooklyn Nets have the choice to not take any risks and take the team they currently have into the offseason.

The Nets do not have any disgruntled players that want to get paid major money in the offseason or leave. Jeremy Lin will likely take his player option. And while Joe Harris certainly will get a pay raise, Jahlil Okafor, Quincy Acy and Nik Stauskas should all be relatively cheap. Brooklyn does not need to worry about getting value for a leaving free agent, simply because they can afford to keep everyone.

Brooklyn also does not need to buy anything other than picks. Even then, Brooklyn should remain hesitant. If a team dangles a pick for one of Brooklyn’s top players, the team needs to seriously evaluate the offer. They should not under any circumstances pull the trigger on it immediately.

If Sean Marks can keep his wits about him, which he shown he always does, the Nets are fine. Sure it might take them a while to get to the promise land, but trust in him and he will deliver.

Next: Getting the Nets to the playoffs is a process

So, do not be surprised if the Brooklyn Nets do not make a trade. They do not need to. Perhaps, it is better if they do not make one at all. After all, it would allow them to strengthen their team chemistry.
