Jarrett Allen, C (2017-18 team: Brooklyn Nets)

Jarrett Allen was a first-round pick by the Brooklyn Nets in 2017, taken 22nd overall after his freshman season at the University of Texas.

The 20-year-old native of Austin, Texas, went to Vegas last summer, but did not play due to a hip injury.

He came back with a strong rookie season, appearing in 72 games, starting 31 of them, and averaging 8.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 20.0 minutes per game on .589/5-for-15/.76 shooting.

Listed at 6-foot-11 and 234 pounds, one of Allen’s key offseason goals has been to increase his strength and possibly add to his shooting range.

He did lead NBA rookies in field goal percentage last season, but 67 percent of his shots were inside of three feet and his 117 dunks were exactly half of his 234 made buckets on the season.

Semaj Christon, PG (2017-18 team: Guangzhou Long-Lions)

Semaj Christon spent last season in China after he was among the final cuts by the Oklahoma City Thunder in training camp last October.

He signed with the Guangzhou Long-Lions in early December and posted big numbers — as many American players do in the Chinese Basketball Association — in his 16 games there. Christon averaged 27.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.8 steals in 42.9 minutes per game.

He slashed .474/.230/.835.

Christon is a Summer League regular since being taken 55th overall by the Miami Heat in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Xavier University, leaving the Musketeers after his sophomore season.

Christon’s rights were dealt to the Charlotte Hornets the day after the draft and then sold to Oklahoma City the same day.

This will be his fifth straight season of Summer League action, but his first in Las Vegas. He had been with the Thunder the last four years in the Orlando sessions.

Christon did stick with the Thunder in 2016-17, playing 64 games and starting one while averaging 2.9 points and 2.0 assists in 15.2 minutes per game on a slash line of .344/.190/.548.

He played with the G-League’s Oklahoma City Blue in 2014-15, averaging 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.6 steals in 35.4 minutes over 44 games, slashing .435/.250/.786.

Christon opted for Italy in 2015-16, averaging 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals in 33.2 minutes a game with Conssultinvest VL Pesaro while shooting .425/.190/.664.

The 25-year-old Cincinnati native will have to show some consistency with his shot to have a chance to return to the NBA in 2018-19.
