Gregg Polinsky, director of player personnel for the Brooklyn Nets, is heading to the Detroit Pistons.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Brooklyn Nets director of player personnel Gregg Polinsky is heading to the Detroit Pistons.

Polinsky is expecting to get a larger front office role with the new-look Detroit Pistons.

The Pistons, who were very active in trades and signings last season, have their eyes on rising up in the Eastern Conference.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Now that LeBron James is heading out West to the Los Angeles Lakers, this gives several Eastern Conference teams an opportunity to make a serious run in the playoffs.

On Jan. 29, the Pistons acquired five-time All Star Blake Griffin along with Willie Reed from the Los Angeles Clippers for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley and a draft pick.

This set the foundation for the Pistons to have one of the most dominant frontcourts in the Eastern Conference. Detroit finished 39-43 last season just missing the playoffs under head coach and president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy.

Adding Polinsky to a growing Pistons team is a great addition. He is a great scouting director who has a big eye for international talent.

Bobby Marks of ESPN, who worked with Polinsky for many years, loves the addition of Polinsky to Detroit.

Polinsky’s time with the Nets organization

Polinsky has been with the Nets for the past 19 years. Polinsky was hired by the Nets in 1999 as a scout. He was then promoted to the Nets team director of scouting in 2004, Essentially, he was the Nets chief scout.

The former Nets chief of scouting has been through it all with the Nets. He was a part of two ownership changes and a total of three general managers; Rob Thorn, Billy King and current GM Sean Marks. He was also a part of the Nets when they relocated from New Jersey to Brooklyn.

Polinsky has also been around several basketball stages with the Nets; from their championship runs in the early 2000s to their 12-win season in 2009-2010.
