Standout Nets Players

As far as standout Nets players in this game, Theo Pinson and Shawn Dawson played well Wednesday, but they did not have standout performances. Milton Doyle and Jarrett Allen deserve the spotlight of standout players.

Doyle played well. He was great driving the ball, showing he can he finish through traffic and be aggressive off the bounce. Doyle was only 6-for-15 shooting, but hit all nine of his foul shots and controlled ball movement when he was on the floor. He was impatient at times.

More from Nothin' But Nets

On the other end of the floor, he did a fair job defending. He did record a couple steals and forced opposing players to throw up contested shots. His effort on the defensive end was not perfect, but compared to his teammates, it was good.

Jarrett Allen showed when he plays aggressively, he can become a big problem for opposing teams. When Allen drives to the basket, he has his eyes on throwing it down.

He had a good offensive performance, scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and showed off some range with that smooth 3-point shot. Allen went 6-for-10 from the field and posted a double-double in the loss.

His defensive game was also good. He was commonly pushed around down low, but did not get in foul trouble. Allen did a good job of rebounding on both ends and was the Nets’ leading rebounder.

Doyle and Allen both played for the Nets  last season. Allen got a lot more playing time than Doyle did and will most likely be the starting center for Brooklyn next season. It will be interesting to see what Brooklyn will do with Doyle, who was recently signed to another two-way contract.

But the Nets are guard heavy and Doyle could have trouble finding minutes at the 2 spot.
