147. . SG. 1st round, 8th overall from Villanova, 1996 NBA Draft. Kerry Kittles. 3. player

Kerry Kittles was taken eighth overall by the New Jersey Nets out of Villanova in the 1996 NBA Draft and after earning the starting shooting guard spot early in his rookie year, he was a fixture in that role for the better part of a decade.

Knee problems cost him some time in 1999-2000 and all of the 2000-01 season, but he came back strong to reclaim his spot in the lineup and help New Jersey to back-to-back NBA Finals.

More from Nothin' But Nets

In July 2004, the Nets traded Kittles to the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2005 second-round pick and the Clippers waived Kittles after one injury-truncated season.

Kittles was never a star in New Jersey, but he was the type of top-flight role player successful teams need — he could score when asked, stretched the floor with his range and could get you a steal when you needed one.

He was a second-team All-Rookie pick in 1996-97 after averaging 16.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.9 steals in 36.7 minutes per game on .426/.377/.771 shooting and posted a career-best 17.2 points per game the following season.

In seven years with New Jersey, Kittles averaged 14.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals in 33.6 minutes anight with a slash line of .439/.378/.781.

He was in the playoffs with the Nets four times (1998, 2002-04) and averaged 12.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals in 32.1 minutes per game over 54 appearances, shooting .424/.337/.742.

Kittles is ranked seventh all-time, incidentally, with a turnover percentage of 8.3 and led the NBA in the category in 1999-2000.
