Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson will be entering his fourth season with the Brooklyn Nets. Hollis-Jefferson, who is one of the longest-tenured Nets on the roster, has been improving each year.

Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson has done a great job developing Hollis-Jefferson into a good shooting big man. The forward does not shoot much from behind the arc, but has a strong mid-range game.

  • Hollis-Jefferson shoots the mid-range jumper with confidence and consistency. Last season, Hollis-Jefferson shot .491 from mid-range.

To go along with his strong shooting, Hollis-Jefferson does a great job finishing through traffic when driving the ball. He looks for contact and aims to end the play with three points.

    Hollis-Jefferson averaged 28.2 minutes, 13.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

On Wednesday, the Brooklyn Nets announced that Hollis-Jefferson has a left adductor strain. An adductor strain is a type of hip strain that is a common sports injury. The injury can take up to two to eight weeks to heal.

This means Hollis-Jefferson has a small chance of missing the season opener. It is not likely he will miss the season opener, nor the preseason, which is a positive sign for Brooklyn and its fans.

Hollis-Jefferson is expected to be one of the few Nets who will have a breakout season in 2018-2019. Hollis-Jefferson is in a similar situation as D’Angelo Russell, but to a lesser degree. The Nets forward is up for a new contract at the end of the 2018-19 season.

This means Hollis-Jefferson will have to set the record straight that he should be a part of Sean Marks’ long-term plan.

During the 2017-18 season, rumors started to swirl regarding a Hollis-Jefferson trade. The New York Knicks reportedly showed interest in the Nets forward, but no deal went through.

There could be a chance Sean Marks will listen to trade talks during the 2018-19 season regarding Hollis-Jefferson. Since he is in an expiring contract.

if Marks makes up his mind and believes Hollis-Jefferson does not have a spot in the long-term plan, he could package him to another team. This raises the question of what RHJ is worth?

If the Nets wanted to trade the forward, they should look at getting an unprotected first-round pick in return.

Despite the chance of a trade, it is not likely Marks will shop the forward. He has been a great Net for the past three years and has been getting better each season.

With all of this being said, Hollis-Jefferson must have a career year next season with the Brooklyn Nets in order to secure himself a good deal in 2019. If he has a breakout season, Hollis-Jefferson will gain some nation attention from other NBA teams and the NBA universe.
