Overall

The Brooklyn Nets have put together a solid offseason as Sean Marks continues to rebuild the franchise from the rubble he inherited from Billy King at a faster-than-expected rate.

The Nets are talking improvement this season, playing to win rather than for ping pong balls, with the notion of being a fringe playoff contender on the table.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Heady stuff from a team that won 20 games two years ago in its first season with Marks at the helm and Kenny Atkinson on the bench.

Even with a raft of injuries last season, Brooklyn improved by eight games in the win column and now faces the challenge of learning to finish close games and mastering how to win at home.

Ed Davis is a quality addition to the rotation and retaining Joe Harris sent a message to every player with talent but lacking opportunity that Brooklyn can be a place to get the help needed to emerge as a full-time NBA rotation player.

The addition of Kenneth Faried has the potential to be huge, if he can fit his bruising style in with the Nets’ fast-paced system. Shabazz Napier is adequate as a reserve point guard, Treveon Graham is a 3-and-D player with some upside and Brooklyn added future draft picks to the stores.

What this offseason lacked in buzz it made up for with quality and a commitment to the culture, while positioning the Nets as a potential force to be reckoned with in free agency next summer.
