Brooklyn Nets: 4 lineup ideas to fill in for Caris LeVert
By Phil Watson
The Brooklyn Nets will be without star guard Caris LeVert for several weeks and have a hole to fill in the starting lineup. Here are 4 potential options.
While the Brooklyn Nets got good news on Tuesday regarding the injury to leading scorer Caris LeVert, Brooklyn’s emerging star will still be out of the lineup for several weeks and the Nets will have to fill that vacancy in the starting lineup in the interim.
The Nets are, however, dealing from a position of relative strength for the first time in several years, with this year’s roster being the deepest Brooklyn has had in several years.
So that means coach Kenny Atkinson has some options to consider while looking to fill the spot.
LeVert was averaging 18.4 points a game at the time he was injured Monday night in the loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Minneapolis and the Nets aren’t going to be able to replace that sort of production.
LeVert had seven 20-point outings already this season and is the only player in the NBA this season with more than one game-winning shot in the last 10 seconds of regulation or overtime to his credit.
None of the available options on the roster are going to match LeVert’s scoring point for point. Instead, it will likely be point guard D’Angelo Russell that will be asked to look to score more.
So what you need to add to the lineup in that scenario is a player who can keep the spacing of the offense intact.
Brooklyn will have to depend more on swing-swing action and quick ball movement to get the defense shifting to create open looks, because their best one-on-one offensive player is unavailable.
So let’s take a look at four potential options to take on a starting role.
