Brooklyn Nets: Christmas wishes to some current, former NBA execs
By Phil Watson
Happy holidays to Ryan McDonough from your friends in Brooklyn
Dear Ryan:
Hope you are well after getting sort of a raw deal with the timing of the whole getting-fired thing by the Phoenix Suns.
But the Brooklyn Nets just wanted to pass along some thanks for the great gift we got in July when you sent Jared Dudley to us (along with a future second-round pick) for a guy you didn’t even keep.
We’re also very appreciative of the way you preserved him last season — he’s got lots of energy and fresh legs after barely playing for your 21-win team last season.
Jared has been a terrific influence for our younger players, has taken on an important leadership role for us and over the last few weeks has been playing like he’s 23 instead of 33.
If we end up in the playoffs, Jared’s likely going to deserve a big share of the credit for how he’s taken this roster under his wing as a mentor while also giving us qualify minutes on the court.
It couldn’t have worked out better for us. So thanks for that.
