The Brooklyn Nets Friday won their 2nd straight game of 2019 and halted a 2-game road losing slide with a 109-100 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

For the third season in a row, the Brooklyn Nets beat the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum, putting together a late 9-2 run to open up a 12-point lead and holding on for a 109-100 victory.

With the win, the Nets (19-21) won their second straight game, halted a two-game skid on the road and sent the Grizzlies (18-20) to their fourth straight loss and ninth defeat in their last 11 games.

Brooklyn has won 11 of its last 14 and moved percentage points ahead of the idle Detroit Pistons (17-19) into eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

More from Nothin' But Nets

The Nets trail the Charlotte Hornets (18-19), who were also idle Friday, by a half-game and trail the sixth-place Miami Heat (19-18), who beat the Washington Wizards Friday, by 1½ games.

It was a workmanlike effort from Brooklyn on Friday, who weathered an early flurry from Memphis, climbing out of a nine-point hole in the first quarter to tie the game by the period break.

After taking the lead with 6:49 to go in the third quarter, the Nets led the rest of the way opening up a 106-94 edge with 2:51 remaining on a pair of D’Angelo Russell free throws after Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen had teamed up for three straight baskets at the rim.

It was the sort of effort one would expect from a good team against a tough defensive opponent on the road.

The Nets overcame 20 turnovers with big edges at the 3-point line (13 makes to five), the foul line (24-11) and off the bench, with Brooklyn’s reserves outscoring their counterparts 51-20.

They shot 45.6 percent (36-for-79) on the night and were 13-for-34 (38.2 percent) from 3-point range, compared to 45.2 percent (42-for-93) and 5-for-24 (20.8 percent) for the Grizzlies.

Memphis got 31 points from veteran Mike Conley and a minimalist triple-double — 11 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists — from Kyle Anderson, but the Nets countered with six players in double-figures, led by Russell’s 23 points, while DeMarre Carroll had 20 and Harris dropped 18.

Brooklyn continues its three-game road stretch Sunday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. Eastern (2:30 p.m. local) tip against the Chicago Bulls before heading back east to take on the Boston Celtics Monday night.

Here are the player grades from a very solid win by the Nets.
