Brooklyn Nets: Player grades from Big Pendulum win over Hawks
By Phil Watson
Joe Harris, like many of the Brooklyn Nets, struggled early in the game.
Harris had a couple of attempts in the paint erased by Atlanta Hawks center Dewayne Dedmon during the same possession and his passing was just a bit off — he was doing that jump pass thing and teammates thought he was shooting.
But it was Harris who helped push the Nets into the lead in the third quarter with three early 3-pointers and he did big work on the boards with nine rebounds. In all, a solid performance after he missed Monday’s loss to the Boston Celtics with an ankle injury.
Spencer Dinwiddie has gone into a bit of a funk since his red-hot stretch in December. Dinwiddie was just 5-for-14 from the floor on Wednesday and misfired on all three of his attempts from deep.
Since lighting up the Charlotte Hornets for 37 points in the Nets’ double-overtime win on Dec. 26, Dinwiddie has averaged just 11.7 points, 4.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game over his last seven games, shooting 36.9 percent overall and just 26.9 percent from long range.
He did get himself to the free throw line for seven attempts, but his pace there has fallen to just 4.6 attempts per game over his last seven contests and his five assists on Wednesday were matched by five turnovers.
Not a red flag, perhaps, but something in the lighter shades of that family to be aware of.
