The Long Island Nets got a triple-double from Shannon Scott Saturday, but with a thin bench fell 114-106 NBA G League to the Capital City Go-Go in D.C.

With the parent Brooklyn Nets dealing with injury problems, there was no help available for the short-handed Long Island Nets Saturday night as the NBA G League affiliate dropped a 114-106 decision to the Capital City Go-Go at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington.

Brooklyn has called up both of its players on two-way contracts, Theo Pinson and recently re-signed Alan Williams, and Long Island was also without Jordan McLaughlin and Ismael Sanogo with hamstring injuries, while Mitch Creek missed his second straight game with an illness.

Every available Net played at least 21 and Capital City (14-9) wore down Long Island (17-7), leading by as much as 20 points en route to the win.

More from Nothin' But Nets

The game bounced back and forth early, with 10 lead changes and six ties in the first 18 minutes, but the Nets never led again after Isaiah Armwood put Capital City up with 5:52 to go in the first half on a putback layup.

Shannon Scott tied his own franchise record for Long Island with 20 assists on his way to a triple-double, but was just 5-for-19 from the floor while finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. His 20 assists matched his total against the Erie BayHawks on Jan. 2.

Scott is averaging 6.7 assists on the season, but has 61 dimes (15.3 per game) in four outings this month. Saturday was his second triple-double this season — he had a 17/11/16 triple-double on Jan. 5 against Raptors 905.

The Nets shot only 40.6 percent (40-for-101), snapping a streak of five straight games shooting at least 50 percent while also having their five-game winning streak broken. Long Island was only 10-for-41 (24.4 percent) from 3-point range.

The Nets outrebounded the Go-Go 58-44, with 18 offensive rebounds to just seven for Capital City, but that only translated to a 17-15 edge in second-chance points. Long Island allowed 26 points off 22 turnovers and got back only 11 on 15 Go-Go giveaways.

Thomas Wimbush led the Nets with 26 points and also had 11 rebounds, while Okaro White — who played seven games for Capital City earlier this season while on assignment from the Washington Wizards before being waived last month — added 23 points.

Drew Gordon came off the bench for 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kamari Murphy scored 13 points and Nuni Omot added 12.

Surging Capital City won its sixth straight game and now trails Long Island by just 2½ games in the G League’s Eastern Conference, with the Westchester Knicks still in second, two games behind the Nets.

The Go-Go hit 45.3 percent (43-for-95) on the night and were a red-hot 15-for-31 (48.4 percent) from deep.

The game got chippy late, with Murphy and Capital City forward Devin Robinson ejected after an altercation with 5:59 remaining. Wimbush was assessed a technical foul in the fray, as were Go-Go players Pe’Shon Howard and Chris Chiozza.

Chiozza led Capital City with 30 points, while Jordan McRae — on a two-way contract with the parent Washington Wizards — added 22 points, four assists and three steals. Armwood went for 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.

Troy Brown Jr., on assignment from the Wizards, finished with 10 points and four assists. The Go-Go’s other two-way player, Robinson, had nine points before being ejected.
