Long Island Nets never recover from slow start in loss to Raptors 905

The Long Island Nets fell into an early 16-2 hole and never really recovered as they were blown out Monday at Nassau Coliseum by Raptors 905, 113-87.
The Long Island Nets had their previous game suspended because of water dripping on the floor. On Monday afternoon at Nassau Coliseum, the Nets could only have been so lucky.
The Nets (18-9) fell into an early 16-2 hole and never led as they took their worst loss of the season, falling to Raptors 905 by a 113-87 count.
Long Island saw its lead in the NBA G League’s Eastern Conference shrink to 1½ games over both the Lakeland Magic and Raptors 905, which improved to 17-11.

The Nets trailed 34-20 at the end of the first quarter and never got closer than 10 in the second half and lost their composure late in the game. Kamari Murphy picked up a flagrant foul with 29 seconds to go after Rodney Pryor had gotten a rebound for 905.
Long Island was the gang that couldn’t shoot straight, hitting a season-low 32.6 percent (31-for-95) while scoring a season-low 87 points. The Nets hit only 8-of-28 (28.6) from 3-point range, were outscored on the fast break 12-3 and surrendered a 25-18 edge in points off turnovers.
Raptors 905 hit 46.2 percent (42-for-91) on the afternoon and was a sizzling 18-for-40 (45 percent) from deep.
Alan Williams, on a two-way contract with the parent Brooklyn Nets, led Long Island with 20 points, but was just 9-for-24 from the floor.
Okaro White finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Shannon Scott dished out eight assists and Brooklyn’s other two-way player, Theo Pinson, had 13 points, seven assists and three steals. Murphy blocked two shots and Nuni Omot dropped in 10 points — on 4-of-14 shooting — off the bench.
It was the two-way players from the Toronto Raptors who led the way for 905, with Jordan Loyd scoring a game-high 24 points to go with six assists and Chris Boucher adding 22 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.
Kyle Collinsworth also had nine boards for the Raptors.
Long Island — pending whatever rescheduling arrangements are made for the Saturday night game at Erie that was suspended — is idle until Friday, when they open a four-game Western swing with a 9 p.m. Eastern tip against the Salt Lake City Stars (13-13).
