The Brooklyn Nets look to secure their first season series victory over the New York Knicks since 2014-15 when the teams meet Friday at Barclays Center.

The Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks enter Friday’s matchup at Barclays Center streaking in opposite directions.

The Nets (26-23) have won their last five games and are 9-2 in January, while the Knicks (10-36) have dropped seven straight and are just 1-8 this month.

Brooklyn was taken two of the first three meetings from the Knicks and the teams will wrap up their four-game season series on Friday. The Nets haven’t won a season series from New York since sweeping the Knicks in 2014-15.

More from Nothin' But Nets

The Nets picked up their fifth win in a row on Wednesday night at Barclays Center, beating the Orlando Magic 114-110. The Knicks were also at home Wednesday, when they lost to the Houston Rockets by the same 114-110 score.

Brooklyn took the lead for good against the Magic on D’Angelo Russell‘s jumper from the elbow with 3:37 remaining and sealed the deal on Russell’s free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining after Nikola Vucevic‘s game-tying basket was waved off due to offensive goaltending.

Spencer Dinwiddie led the Nets with 29 points, while Russell finished with 25 points and 10 assists. Jarrett Allen had 11 rebounds for Brooklyn.

The Knicks took a 110-109 lead over Houston on Allonzo Trier‘s layup with 20 seconds remaining, but Eric Gordon canned a 3-pointer with 9.8 seconds left and then stole the ball from Noah Vonleh with 5.6 seconds to go, feeding James Harden for a game-sealing dunk.

Trier led New York with 31 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 21 points. Vonleh finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks and Frank Ntilikina dished out six assists.

Mitchell Robinson went for 12 points and three blocks and Kevin Knox logged 12 points and two blocked shots.
