The Brooklyn Nets will look to secure a season-series victory over the Washington Wizards when the teams meet Wednesday night at Barclays Center.

The Brooklyn Nets will be looking for a third consecutive victory Wednesday night when the slumping Washington Wizards come to Barclays Center.

Brooklyn (32-30) can also lock up the season series from the Wizards (24-36) after winning two of the teams; first three meetings.

Washington comes in with four consecutive losses and hasn’t played since Saturday, when it fell at home to the Indiana Pacers 119-112.

The Nets picked up their first consecutive wins since Jan. 14-25 with a 101-85 win at home Monday over the San Antonio Spurs.

D’Angelo Russell scored 23 points and dished out eight assists for Brooklyn, which led by as much as 23 against the Spurs, who never got closer than 12 points in the fourth quarter. DeMarre Carroll grabbed 12 rebounds and Caris LeVert went for 15 points and seven assists.

The Wizards fell behind by as much as 17 in the first half on Saturday against the Pacers before rallying in the closing minute to make it a one-possession game.

Thomas Bryant canned a 3-pointer with 28.9 seconds left to cut Indiana’s lead to 115-112 and had a chance to tie after a Pacer turnover, but Bryant missed another 3 with 14.2 seconds lfet and Darren Collison knocked down two free throws to ice it for Indiana.

Bradley Beal paced the Wizards with 35 points and had six assists, while Bryant came off the bench for 23 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Trevor Ariza dished out seven assists and Tomas Satoransky finished with 12 points and six steals.

The Nets are 88-100 all-time against the Washington franchise, which was known as the Bullets from 1976, when the then-New York Nets entered the NBA, until 1997, when the club took on the Wizards moniker.

Washington has the longest winning streak of the series, twice winning seven consecutive games, most recently from Dec. 26, 2015, to March 24, 2017. The Nets have a pair of six-game streaks, the last coming from March 21, 2006, to Nov. 8, 2007.

The highest-scoring game by a team in the series is also the most lopsided decision, coming Nov. 17, 1978, at Piscataway when the Bullets took down a 143-94 victory.

The Nets posted a 130-102 win at Landover, Md., on March 17, 1986, for their high mark, although they had the same total in a 130-124 double-overtime win at Landover on March 2, 1982.

The largest win for the Nets came on Jan. 9, 1993, in a 124-79 victory at East Rutherford.

The highest-scoring game by a single player in the series came on April 8, 1987, when Hall of Famer Moses Malone dropped 50 points for the Bullets in a win at East Rutherford. Vince Carter scored 46 for the Nets in an overtime win at East Rutherford on April 7, 2007.

In regulation time, Kenny Anderson scored 42 points in a win at Landover on Feb. 18, 1994, a total later matched by Deron Williams in a victory at Barclays Center on March 8, 2013.

Since the move to Brooklyn in 2012, the Nets are 9-15 against the Wizards. Brooklyn has posted consecutive wins just twice in that time, most recently on Dec. 12 and 22, 2017.

The Wizards have the highest-scoring game of the Brooklyn era, a 129-108 win at Washington on March 24, 2017. The Nets set a new scoring mark against the Wizards on Dec. 14 with their 125-118 win at Barclays Center.

Each team has a 37-point victory to its credit since the Nets’ move and they happened in the same season. The Wizards picked up a 114-77 win at home on Feb. 7, 2015, and the Nets returned the favor at Barclays Center on April 10, 2015, with a 117-80 triumph.

The top individual effort by a Wizard came on March 15, 2014, when John Wall scored 33 points in a win at Washington.

Dec. 14, 2018, at Brooklyn: The Nets took control of the game with a 43-point outburst in the second quarter and put the game away with a 14-5 spurt after the Wizards had closed to within four points with 4:56 remaining.

Spencer Dinwiddie paced Brooklyn with 27 points and also had six assists. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 15 points, nine rebounds and six dimes, D’Angelo Russell finished with nine assists, Joe Harris had 19 points and six assists and Jarrett Allen went for 12 points and two blocks.

Bradley Beal scored 31 points and had nine assists for Washington. Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds off the bench, John Wall notched 17 points and 13 assists and Thomas Bryant blocked two shots.

Brooklyn outrebounded the Wizards 46-25 on the night.
