Brooklyn Nets: 15 best draft picks of all-time (updated through 2018-19)
By Phil Watson
Mason Plumlee performed well in a short two-year stint with the Brooklyn Nets after he was taken 22nd overall out of Duke in the 2013 NBA Draft.
Pressed into more playing time than originally anticipated as a rookie because of Brook Lopez‘s broken foot, Plumlee performed well enough in his 18.2 minutes per game to average 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds on 65.9 percent shooting. That earned him a spot on the All-Rookie First Team.
He followed that up with 45 starts in 82 games in 2014-15, averaging 8.7 points and 6.2 rebounds in 21.3 minures per game, with his shooting dipping a bit to 57.3 percent.
Without a first-round pick in 2015, the Nets dealt Plumlee on draft night along with the rights to second-rounder Pat Connaughton to the Portland Trail Blazers for Steve Blake and the rights to first-round selection Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
Plumlee played most of two seasons in Portland before heading to the Denver Nuggets around the trade deadline in 2017 and he re-signed with the Nuggets on a three-year, $41 million deal in September 2017.
He was an analytics darling while with the Nets, with his .609 true shooting percentage ranked second in team history. He is third on the franchise’s all-time list with a 113.5 offensive rating and .150 win shares per 48 minutes.
