Joe Harris

Joe Harris was the top 3-point shooter in the NBA last season, becoming the first Brooklyn Nets player to lead the league in 3-point percentage.

His offseason priorities should be to improve his overall defense and keep his shot consistent. He should also improve his conditioning as he fizzled out in the postseason when the Nets needed him most.

Harris is only under contract for one more year and at age 27 it’s a bit unrealistic for him to drastically improve his game in other areas.

His lack of athleticism makes any major changes in his game unlikely as well. Simply remaining a dead-eye shooter is sufficient for the Nets’ needs next season as he does not appear to be a part of the young core in Brooklyn.

Allen Crabbe

Although I expect Allen Crabbe to be traded before the season starts, Crabbe is still injured as well. If the Brooklyn Nets can’t move him and he heals soon, Crabbe needs to work on all aspects of his game and re-discover his shooting stroke.

The broad strokes

As a whole, the entire Nets core must improve their team defense and passing acumen. Last season’s rankings of 21st in the NBA in assists and 18th in opponents points per game must be improved substantially if the Nets want to be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

If the young Brooklyn Nets core can achieve most or all of their individual goals this offseason, the additional help of some major free agent acquisitions and good draft picks could be enough to make them a top contender next season.
