The Brooklyn Nets should be able to easily create enough cap space to offer a max contract in free agency. Here are some prime targets for Brooklyn.

The NBA has a crazy way of getting fans hooked to tuning in even in the offseason. So many fans tune into playoff season and offseason to see which free agents are the hottest and most efficient to certain teams in the upcoming season. The Brooklyn Nets are not expected to be shy about picking at gold in their offseason.

Here are five stars set to become free agents on July 1 that could be potential targets for the Nets.

More from Nothin' But Nets

1. Kevin Durant, SF/PF

The Golden State Warriors MVP has had enough of the palm trees and sun and might be looking to make his way towards the streets of Brooklyn. Kevin Durant is one of the most versatile players in the NBA and has been argued to be the greatest of his time.

Who knows if the Nets could make KD their sharpshooter?

2. Kyrie Irving, PG

With D’ Angelo Russell possibly moving from the Brooklyn Nets this summer, the team will need a solid point guard to hold the team down like Russell did. Russell became the face of the Nets and we shouldn’t be surprised if Kyrie wants to be the new poster boy for Brooklyn.

We all know Kyrie has never been shy about change.

3. Klay Thompson, SG

Another Golden State Warrior who can cause an earthquake in Brooklyn could be Klay Thompson. The Brooklyn Nets can use a slick shooter on the roster. Klay has not shown much interest in other teams but one must argue that he is not all that happy in Oakland anymore.

Things haven’t been the same for him so why not cause chaos in Brooklyn in 2019-20?

4. Brook Lopez, C

One of the most surprising and sad losses from the team was Lopez’s departure in the 2017 offseason. He was traded for D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov. Although many thought the trade was ideal for the Nets to acquire such a player as Russell, Brook was always missed.

Brook Lopez was a solid player in Brooklyn and seeing him return in the 2019-20 season will be nothing but exciting for Nets fans. After all, his name is literally Brook.

5. Kristaps Porzingis, C

Jarrett Allen is a solid center for the Brooklyn Nets and showed his abilities and resiliency in the 2018-19 season. The 21-year-old has so much room for growth and experience ,but it is no surprise that the Brooklyn Nets might be wanting something more from their center.

With Brook Lopez holding down the spot for so long and being that valuable center, it would come as no surprise if they looked for someone else. Why not reach out the the Dallas Mavericks’ big man, Kristaps Porzingis. The man has been efficient in New York before.

Why not switch gardens and make his way to the Barclays Center?
