Brooklyn Nets: Under-the-radar free agent fits to consider
By Evan Decruz
Thaddeus Young
Thaddeus Young is another former Brooklyn Net who is an unrestricted free agent who could be a nice fit if brought back. The Pacers have a lot of cap space and if they add two superstars, they probably won’t look to re-sign Young, who is entering his 13th NBA season.
Young is an excellent defender and a league veteran. He played over 30 minutes a game last season and it might be time for him to settle into a bench role. This could be a mutually beneficial arrangement if Brooklyn signs him.
His market value may play right into the Nets’ favor as he is not a prolific 3-point shooter and many teams may simply overlook him based on this and his age.
Familiar with playing in Brooklyn, Young could be a major piece for the Nets second unit. He is a rangey, athletic and versatile forward who takes good shots and rebounds well.
He is a career 50 percent field goal shooter and shoots a decent 33 percent from deep. He’s also a good transition player who can mentor the Nets’ youth on both ends of the court and lead by example.
