Clint Capela

With five NBA seasons under his belt, Clint Capela has gone from Swiss import project to one of the better starting centers in the NBA.

But at 25, how much upside does Capela have left? He posted career-highs of 16.6 points and 12.7 rebounds per game this season, while also notching a career-best 1.4 assists per game, but his blocked shots dipped to 1.5 a game.

He shot 64.8 percent from the floor. with 99 percent of his attempts coming from inside of 10 feet and 75 percent taken from the restricted area.

He has attempted one legitimate career 3-pointer, with his other effort from distance coming on a late-clock heave. He’s 0-for-2 in his career.

Capela also shot just 63.6 percent from the foul line this season, which was a career-high. He’s a 52.5 percent career foul shooter.

He’s a very good center, but he is also similar to what Jarrett Allen could be on his way to becoming, with Allen being a better and more instinctive shot blocker who is also a better free-throw shooter and has at least worked on developing a corner 3.

Throw in the fact Allen is two years into his career and just turned 21 and Capela looks like a very expensive addition (he still has four years and  $72.09 million remaining on the free agent deal he signed last summer) that would represent only a minor upgrade at this point.
