The Brooklyn Nets will send a 16-man roster to Las Vegas for Summer League play, a group that includes both draft picks and four young veterans.

The Brooklyn Nets released their roster Tuesday for the Las Vegas Summer League and it is a typical for Summer League — an eclectic mix of young veterans, free agents and undrafted rookies looking to find a spot in the NBA.

More from Nothin' But Nets

Last year in Vegas, the Nets were 0-5, but ended up with three undrafted rookies from that summer unit earning two-way contracts. Theo Pinson showed he had a 3-point shot after all and wound up with an Exhibit 10 contract with Brooklyn that was converted to a two-way deal.

Pinson was runner up for Rookie of the Year in the NBA G-League and was converted to a full contract on the final day of the regular season.

Now a restricted free agent after Brooklyn tendered the $1.73 million qualifying offer to Pinson on Saturday, Pinson will be back with the Nets in Vegas.

Forward Yuta Watanabe got a two-way deal from the Memphis Grizzlies and played in 15 games for them last season while also playing 33 games and making 32 starts for the G-League’s Memphis Hustle.

Center Tyler Davis was signed by the Oklahoma City Thunder to a two-way contract, but that deal was terminated by the Thunder last December.

Brooklyn opens Summer League play Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas when they take on the Dallas Mavericks and will play at least four more games in a 32-team field that includes every NBA team as well as the national teams from both China and Croatia.

Here is the Nets’ schedule for Vegas:

  • Friday, July 5: vs. Dallas, Cox Pavilion, 7 p.m. Eastern (NBA TV)
  • Sunday, July 7: vs. Croatia, Cox Pavilion, 4 p.m. Eastern (NBA TV)
  • Monday, July 8: vs. Washington, Thomas & Mack Center, 5:30 p.m. (NBA TV)
  • Wednesday, July 10: vs. Orlando, Thomas & Mack Center, 5:30 p.m. (ESPNU)

Tournament and consolation round play will begin Friday, July 12, with matchups to be determined.

Director of player development and assistant coach Adam Harrington will serve as head coach for the Nets’ entry, while will have three players from the current roster — two-year veteran Jarrett Allen and one-year vets Rodions Kurucs and Dzanan Musa.

2019 draft picks Nicolas Claxton and Jaylen Hands will also be with the team in Vegas, as will draft-and-stash wing Isaia Cordinier, who played in Vegas with the Atlanta Hawks in both 2016 and 2017.

Here’s a breakdown of the roster.
