The NBA loves their narratives, good or bad, don’t they? The Brooklyn Nets won’t be strangers to such storylines next season; let’s look at five of them, in particular.

Takes surrounding the Brooklyn Nets’ level of regular-season success varies, it all depends on who you’re talking to and how they’re feeling that specific day about the Eastern Conference’s hierarchy. There are fans that look at this roster through the realm of optimism and think they can be amongst the premier teams in the NBA—then there are those who utterly oppose such a sanguine stance.

After a chaotic free agency period that saw a seismic shift in power in just mere hours, parity awakens from the depth of the NBA shadows. There are seemingly several teams that are in legitimate contention spread between the two conferences; so finding out where the Nets fit, especially without the services of Durant for a prolonged period of time, is kind of challenging.

This is an organization that appeared in back to back NBA Finals near the dawn of the millennium, was relegated to the confines of mediocrity, and then made one of the more infamous trades of the century and threw away their future assets with one bad judgment call.

But, now…now they have a chance to complete what they came 5 quarters away from doing in 2003; they have the talent to win, but can they?
