The Brooklyn Nets beat the depleted Golden State Warriors 129-88 at Barclays Center. Leading the scoreboard was Caris Levert with 23 points and 4 rebounds.

The first quarter started with a 15-2 run. D’Angelo Russell’s return to Brooklyn was spoiled by a 129-88 defeat, while the emotions were running high. At no surprise, Russell received thunderous applause from the crowd in his first game back, with chants of “Thank you, D-Lo”.

The Nets held him to just 17 points, and 7 for 20 shooting from the field and 0 for 8 from three . It was a big half from both Garrett Temple and Caris Levert. Everything seemed to be going well for the Nets as they led 68-46 going into the half. More impressive was thirty points in the paint.

Brooklyn did not have to stress too much the rest of the way. With such a big lead the team was often using the bench. With that, we saw some big numbers from Rodions Kurucs, who put up 16 points and 5 rebounds. Garrett Temple added 12 points as well.

Caris a LeVert followed up his steady play against Phoenix with a 23 point, 8 assists game with a plus/minus of +43— the highest of any Net in the past 20 years.

The final score was the Nets’ fifth biggest win in their history— the biggest at Barclays Center. More importantly, they are finally taking care of business, beating the weaker teams. Something fans were praying the Nets would do with an injured Kyrie and Levert coming back from injury. The rough road lies ahead and coming out this stretch in a good position was important.

The Nets still remain four games under .500 and in the seventh spot. They have a much  rougher road heading into the All-Star break. So we will see just how much the team has. With an injured Kyrie Irving, hopefully out only a week, Brooklyn will continue to play without their big star. This should show us what they are made of and if they will improve to a higher position or stay put.

Next. Joe Harris, Spencer to represent Brooklyn All-Star Weekend. dark

With trade deadline day here today, it will be very interesting to see what kind of move the Nets make. A lot of fake trades have been put out there and know it will be fun to see Kenny and crew do something. Or will all the hype be delayed until next season?
