Brooklyn Nets: Top 3 Spencer Dinwiddie performances of the season
By Nolan Jensen
#2) Atlanta
Though it was tempting to put Dinwiddie’s 41-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs two nights before this outing, I couldn’t bring myself to it.
That contest against the Spurs has too much infamy associated with it. Not only did the Nets lose, but fan favorite and NBA journeyman David Nwaba went down with a season-ending right Achilles injury—that game sucked, basically.
I also felt relatively justified with this admission due to the fact that Spencer dropped 39 points, six rebounds and six assists in the victory.
It also helped that the Nets overcame a 47-point outing by Trae Young and 13-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter by outscoring the Hawks 37-14 in the final frame to win 122-112. It was a fun comeback win.
The contest also capped off his third consecutive 30-point outing; not bad for a player that had a rather unconventional path to the NBA through multiple seasons in the G-League. Nothing was given to the Colorado alum, which makes such performances all the more sweeter.
Unfortunately for Dinwiddie and the Nets, they’d go on a seven-game losing streak spanning 17 days after the victory against Atlanta. But hey, again, you have to take the good with the bad given the circumstances surrounding this season.
