1984-85 Buck Williams

18.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, 53 field-goal percentage

You could pick almost any season of Buck Williams’ during his time with the Nets, but this one stood out as his assist average of 1.5 boosted up by a half an assist that season while staying consistent with his scoring and rebounding efforts.

Williams came over as the third overall pick out of Maryland in the 1981 NBA Draft, and from there he emerged as one of the most consistent and dynamic power forwards of that era.

Williams won Rookie of the Year in 1982 and was selected to the All-NBA Second Team in 1983. He also helped take the Nets to the playoffs five straight times from 1982 to 1986, as they made it to the second round in 1983. The Nets wouldn’t see the second round of the playoffs again until 2002.

Williams was active on the boards and got his looks inside the paint with relative ease including some nasty dunks, but the impact he had on his team in addition to having his number retired with the organization makes him a worthwhile choice here.
