10 Times the Brooklyn Nets missed on a superstar in the NBA Draft

9. Jimmy Butler – 2011
Jimmy Butler was labeled an underdog for much of his life, but the Chicago Bulls, who were coming off a league-best 62-20 record at the time, made good on their 30th overall pick, as the Houston native went on to develop as a two-way superstar during his time in the Windy City.
Butler is still very much in the prime of his career, as he’s really changed the culture of the Miami Heat and demands nothing but the best from each and every one of his teammates on both ends of the floor no matter who they are.
The then-New Jersey Nets ended up trading their 27th pick to acquire the draft rights to MarShon Brooks, and at that time, it looked like Brooks was well on his way to being an All-Star caliber player.
However, Butler has since earned two All-NBA Third Team and five All-Star Game selections, proving that most teams made a mistake in not making him their selection in the 2011 NBA Draft.
