Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie revealed on Twitter that his son needs a procedure.

Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie can’t seem to catch a break of late. Just days ago, he announced that he was still showing coronavirus symptoms and wouldn’t be traveling with the team to Orlando for the NBA restart later this month.

Now, however, Dinwiddie took to Twitter to reveal that his son, Elijah, needs to undergo a small procedure. The context of the tweet makes it apparent that the 27-year-old is going through a tough time right now.

We don’t know the full details, but here’s what Dinwiddie had to say.

Dinwiddie has been providing his Twitter followers with a daily update on his status while combatting COVID-19. It’s easy to see why the Nets leading scorer is putting his own well-being on the back burner for now. It’s obvious that the health of his son should come before anything else.

If there’s a silver lining to be had here, it’s that Dinwiddie’s followers are rallying behind him by taking the time to send thoughts and prayers his way. Nets courtside reporter for YES, Michael Grady, was among the bunch that were quick to reply to the post.

Dinwiddie will sit out the entire NBA restart and will be cheering on the Nets from home, though now the roster looks unrecognizable after the team was forced to sign Jamal Crawford and Michael Beasley in wake of Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan, Taurean Prince and Wilson Chandler stepping away.

We wish more details were provided, but we fully respect the privacy of Dinwiddie and his son as they push through whatever this procedure might entail. We can only hope that it’s nothing too serious.
