Could the Nets be brainstorming a monster trade package?

It was previously theorized that the Brooklyn Nets were entering the NBA bubble to determine which fringe roster players and substitute signings deserve a spot on next year’s team that, following the returns of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, will have championship aspirations.

We unfortunately haven’t seen how Durant meshes with Brooklyn’s promising young core, and the 20-game sample that we were treated to — for lack of a better term — from Irving wasn’t too encouraging as the team won just eight of those contests.

The Nets have been led by Caris LeVert, Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen (among others) in Orlando, and most fans would admit that all three players have performed out of their skins thus far.

However, there’s no telling what their respective roles will be when the two superstars enter the fold next season. This uncertainty is why it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for LeVert, Harris and Allen to all be featured in one monster trade package.

Let’s clear the air by saying that we are NOT advocating for Brooklyn to trade this budding young trio. Assuming he takes another leap, LeVert could potentially be the best No. 3 option in the NBA next year. Harris is one the premier sharpshooters in the league and Allen could develop into an elite two-way big man with a little more experience under his belt.

What we don’t know, however, is how they will fit with two iso-centric scorers running the offense. As tough as it is to admit, we could very well be witnessing the ceilings of LeVert, Harris and Allen with Brooklyn in the bubble.

The Nets landing Durant and Irving last summer told the rest of the NBA that general manager Sean Marks has his sights set on a championship and will stop at nothing to put Brooklyn in the best position to do just that. It’s possible that includes trading a batch of up-and-coming players for another superstar. After all, none of the league’s true contenders can say they boast a big three.

Acquiring another top player could pencil the Nets in as the undisputed favorite to win it all next year. Again, we want nothing more than LeVert, Harris and Allen to be playing alongside Durant and Irving, but fans in Brooklyn should be prepared for anything and everything.
