Nets: Spencer Dinwiddie drops cryptic comment on Caris LeVert’s IG
By Jerry Trotta
Nets PG Spencer Dinwiddie dropped a cryptic comment on teammate Caris LeVert’s latest Instagram post.
Take a deep breath, Nets fans. Because the latest social media activity from two members of the team’s promising young core is bound to ruffle some feathers.
We all know the impending returns of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will create a headache for the coaching staff as it pertains to keeping players who have stepped up in their absence satisfied with their touches, right? This has led some analysts to believe that Brooklyn is secretly brainstorming a trade to unload some of those players, the most obvious of which include Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie and Jarrett Allen.
Well, the former posted an Instagram with a caption that implies his stock is rising, and Dinwiddie jumped into his comments with a reply that can only be described as cryptic.

The big takeaway here isn’t LeVert’s caption, folks. It could be mistaken that the Michigan product is implying that his trade stock has increased during the NBA restart — where he’s forced pundits to acknowledge his status as an emerging star — but that simply isn’t the case. If there’s one player of the aforementioned trio that should have a role with the Nets moving forward, it’s LeVert.
Dinwiddie’s future in Brooklyn, however, is anything but a sure thing. It seems that the 27-year-old point guard could regret not boosting his stock in the bubble, and might become trade bait once the Nets are eliminated in the playoffs. That’s not an alarmist’s reaction, either.
Let’s say Brooklyn rolls out a staring five of Irving, Joe Harris, LeVert, Durant and DeAndre Jordan next season. Will Dinwiddie be accepting of a role off the bench a year after he posted career-highs in points (20.6), assists (6.8) and minutes (31.2)? It’s a question worth tackling, and we seriously have zero idea what the answer is.
However, the former second-round pick’s comment did clear things up a little, and it doesn’t bode well for Nets fans who are hopeful he’s in the franchise’s long-term plans.
