Fans in Brooklyn will love the first look at the Nets’ “Earned Edition” uniform.

The hype surrounding the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the 2020-21 season is the most palpable its been since we can remember, and rightfully so.

From a revamped coaching staff, to the welcomed return of superstar duo Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant and a slew of other encouraging roster moves, fans have every reason to set championship aspirations for the team. However, what if we told you that there’s another nugget to add to that laundry list?

Literal laundry list, that is.

Despite their storied history, we can all agree that the Nets aren’t renowned for their galvanizing uniforms, right? Well, that could all change this season as their alternate “Earned Edition” uniform leaked on social media for the first time this week. We dare fans to try to prevent their jaws from dropping after feasting their eyes on this beauty of a jersey.

If you’re one of those fans who view the black and white color scheme as unappealing and overused, we totally understand that viewpoint. However, when used properly, there isn’t a sharper looking uniform in the world of sports, and the first look at this debut prove that.

The “Earned Edition” uniform, which announces its return in emphatic fashion after oddly taking the 2019-20 campaign off, is reserved only for teams that qualified for the playoffs in the previous season.

These aren’t quite as stimulating as their Classic Edition throwback jersey, but they no doubt deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the new release. If you told us that during the initial reveal of the former, we probably would’ve laughed in your face.

Fans will be quick to remember that the Nets were on the outer limits of the Eastern Conference playoff picture for a large chunk of last season. That, of course, was before their depleted roster and interim head coach took the NBA by storm in the bubble, scratching and clawing their way into holding onto the No. 8 seed.

Without that unforeseen surge, the folks over at Earned Edition don’t design these awesome new uniforms.

We knew there was a positive about Brooklyn taking their undermanned rotation to Disney to compete in largely meaningless games (they were dismantled in the first round by Milwaukee) during a pandemic, but it just took some time to figure out exactly what it was.
