No. 2: Day’Ron Sharpe, C, UNC

Roy Williams has always had a thing for huge back-to-the-basket centers, and Sharpe has given the Tar Heels the physical presence inside that they’ve needed this season. Sharpe has averaged 9.7 points and 7.8 rebounds this season, often using his unique skillset off of the bench.

In a league that picked Patrick Williams fourth overall despite the fact that he didn’t start a game in college, his college production shouldn’t scare away the Nets. If they play their developmental cards right, he could end up being the successor to DeAndre Jordan in the paint.

What could Day’Ron Sharpe bring to the Brooklyn Nets?

Sharpe will be able to snag rebounds against pro competition as soon as he gets to the NBA, and his ability to finish around the basket while rocking the rim with some huge dunks should be of interest to a Nets team that is living and dying by the 3-point shot during this season.

There are some concerns about Sharpe’s fit in this offense, as adding a 265-pound non-shooter could slow things down a bit on the offensive end. However, the Nets need some size and muscle in the paint, and even as a rookie, Sharpe will be able to provide that while trying to become a more complete offensive player.
