1. Robert Williams Starting

If there was one non-Nets player to be blown away by in that Game 1 win, it was Williams, who recorded an astounding nine blocks. Blake Griffin didn’t even attempt a shot in 20 minutes, and Williams was a huge reason Griffin, Jeff Green, and Nicolas Claxton combined for just nine points all game.

Williams doesn’t have a very good offensive game when he leaves the paint, but the master dunker and rebounder proved capable of securing that area, and he could be the X-factor in a series that could hinge on the Nets owning the territory and making sure that the Celtics don’t get two points down the floor every time.

Robert Williams can’t dominate like he did in Game 1 vs the Brooklyn Nets.

Williams’ impact on both sides of the ball needs to be addressed. As tough as it may be to hear, maybe DeAndre Jordan should get some minutes. Griffin did little to slow down Williams, and Claxton is too skinny to bang with a muscular traditional big like Williams for a large chunk of the game.

A shorter center from Texas A&M who doesn’t have tremendous offensive value outside of the paint doesn’t seem like someone that could completely change the tone of this series, but he made himself known with a dominant Game 1 performance, and the Nets need to prepare for more of No. 44.
