1. TJ McConnell, Indiana Pacers

McConnell has carved out a very nice role for himself in the NBA, as some masterful passing ability and relentless pressure on the defensive end have helped him earn roles with both the 76ers and the Indiana Pacers over the last few seasons. Last year might have been the finest performance we have ever seen from the Arizona alum.

McConnell set a new career-high with 8.6 points per game and tied his previous career-high with 6.6 assists per contest. His 1.9 steals per game also set a new personal best, and it further goes to show that despite his frame, McConnell can make a huge impact on the defensive end.

TJ McConnell would provide defense for a Nets team lacking that skill.

While McConnell wouldn’t be expected to handle any major share of the offensive scoring load, the fact that he converted on 56% of his attempts last year is nice to see. Who better to run this second unit if both Harden and Irving are on the bench?

The lack of rim protection must be addressed, but with the way that the NBA is going, you can never have enough quality perimeter defenders. McConnell could fix a huge issue for the Nets while providing just enough on the offensive end to avoid being deemed a liability, and that is worth paying up for.
