1. Kevin Durant Was Extended

The Nets’ success over the next few years will be tied to Durant, who looked like every bit of the game-changing scorer that we saw in Oklahoma City and Golden State in 2020-21. Even when Irving and Harden struggled to stay healthy, it was Durant who turned into a one-man wrecking crew in the postseason.

Durant’s tremendous play was rewarded with a four-year, $198 million extension that could keep him with the Nets until 2027. Marks also expects Irving and Harden to see their contracts extended in the coming months.

The Brooklyn Nets won the offseason by extending KD.

As long as the Nets have Durant, Irving, and Harden all healthy, they will rank among the favorites for the championship, and making sure that Durant will remain with the team for the better part of the next decade will solidify Brooklyn as title contenders for the next few seasons.

Sure, Durant’s salary might border on the eye-watering by the time that this contract expires, but if he is able to bring Brooklyn a championship, it will be worth it. By locking in Durant, the Nets could be poised for a decade of success unlike anything this franchise has ever seen.
