Brooklyn Nets: James Harden responding to tattoo tweet is what we needed
By Adam Weinrib
As the Brooklyn Nets continue their climb back towards the top of the Eastern Conference while rocking their New Jersey throwback swag, it’s good to know James Harden is feeling relaxed enough to surf Twitter and find the best and most relevant content.
Though the Beard might not have quite the lift he used to, Harden’s beard itself certainly still comes equipped with its legendary heft, and is instantly recognizable wherever you see it.
From Halloween costumes (the Brooklyn Nets training staff approved) to doodles to silhouettes, Harden’s likeness is easy to spot — yes, even in Brooklyn, where everyone’s bearded.
That has us wondering: was the tattoo that went viral on Thursday afternoon a prank or an honest mistake? We’re talking, of course, about the “Black Jesus” tattoo that basically looks exactly like Harden with a crown of thorns.
The man himself encountered the tweet Thursday morning, and couldn’t help but laugh.

Brooklyn Nets: Is this a James Harden tattoo?
Hope this “Mikey Hardwick” character is A) a Brooklyn Nets fan, B) a Houston Rockets fan, or C) NOT a New York Knicks fan, because otherwise he’s been cursed with Harden permanently on his skin.
Maybe not the greatest time to be emblazoned with the Beard, either, considering he’s been affected in the early going by the NBA’s new regulations for foul calls, as well as a strange offseason, the schedule of which seems to have taken a few of the league’s stars by surprise.
Harden thought he’d be helping Kyrie run point in a Kevin Durant-led offense. Instead, he’s only splashing to the tune of 18.3 per game and under 40% from range.
It hasn’t crushed his spirit yet, though. He’s still scrolling social media and reacting in laugh-filled surprise at a painted version of his own face. He’s also tossed on his boots to help the community in recent days. Everything’s fine.

Here’s hoping Harden regains his footing in BK and that a lot more legitimate tattooed likenesses start to leak out these next few months instead of accidental ones.
I believe it was a very wise man who once said, “Thou shalt stop short and draw the defender off balance, as long as thy facial hair is sicketh”?
